The Friday Fizz: CAN XA Brut Rosé Cava

Finca Emendis Can Xa Cava is grown and produced on the Emendis Estate, a hidden gem in Penedès growing grapes and making wine since 1186. “Emendis” is a tribute to the name of the first record of a woman farming the land and growing grapes more than 800 years ago. The modern 48-acre Emendis estate boasts vineyards in several areas across the Penedes region (in the “Cava Zone”) allowing them varied terroirs to add depth and complexity to their wines. All of the Can Xa cavas are made using the classic methode champenoise.

CAN XA Brut Rosé, Cava (Spain), NV
100% Pinot Noir making this is the very rare Pinot Noir-based Rosé Cava made using classical methode champenoise.   Medium-light red-orange color, fully sparkling; Dry, medium light-bodied with fresh acidity and very light phenolics.    Good clean, juicy fresh Rosé Cava with more red fruit than citrus and some earthy mineral in a style not unlike a Rosé de Saignee from Champagne.  This style (which may not be for everyone) with this quality at this price point is shocking. BearScore: 91+.
