The Friday Fizz: ANNA de CODORNIU Blanc de Blancs Cava NV
Top drawer white Cava in a developed blanc de blancs Champagne style. Delicious and everyday affordable.
ANNA de CODORNIU Blanc de Blancs, Cava, NV ($12.89)
An unusual (for Cava) blend of 70% Chardonnay (that’s a lot of Chardonnay), 7.5% Macabeo, 7.5% Xarel-lo, and 15% Parellada (with the Chardonnay all from estate vineyards located in the most continental climate in the Cava zone in Lleida). Aged 15 months on the lees. Straw colored with gold highlights; fully sparkling; dry, medium-bodied with fresh acidity and scant phenolics. Supple, softer style but still fresh Cava with a flavor reminiscient of a developed Blanc de Blancs Champagne. Lemony fruit and mineral earth with a nice toasty-yeast component. Excellent white Cava. BearScore: 92.
