New Chileans: CASA SILVA Los Lingues Cabernet Sauvignon 2014
Stunningly good “New Chilean” Cabernet at a price that won’t break the bank:
CASA SILVA Los Lingues Cabernet Sauvignon, Colchagua Valley , 2014 ($19.89)
100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Los Lingues (average vineyard elevation: 1476 feet. Average vine age: 16 years.). After a cold soak, the wine was fermented with pump-overs and aged 20% in tank and 80% in oak barrels for 10 to 12 months. Red-purple in color with well formed legs; dry, medium-bodied with freshly balanced acidity; medium phenolics. Supple, fresh, juicy ripe but more Bordeaux style Cabernet with red fruit and even a bit of cassis to go with its tobacco leaf, spice, and dust. Classic Cabernet from somewhere. Textural and dimensional. BearScore: 92+.
