The WINE:
Ch. MARTINON, Entre Deux Mers, 2012 ($9.99)
A 12.5% alcohol blend of 25% Sauvignon Blanc, 55% Semillon, 10% Muscadelle de Bordelaise, and 10% Sauvignon Gris crushed and given a a day of skin contact and then 3 days of 5°(C) fermentation before finishing normally, all Stainless Steel tanks. Straw in color with good legs; dry, medium-light-bodied with fresh acidity and scant phenolics. Lovely fresh refreshing white offering mixed citrus and green pear fruit with notes of limestone-mineral and floral. Alive in the mouth but not aggressively Sauvignon due to the Semillon and Sauvignon Gris (which both also contribute the pear component). The initial skin contact gives it a bit more richness and texture and the very cool temperature control preserves the fresh fruit element. A super end of summer refresher, this is a great oyster wine and is lovely with grilled catfish. BearScore: 89+.
NOTE: There is still a bit of very good 2011 left in some stores.

[…] DAILY DRINKERS: A great pick on a fine wine (a wine made by a specific someone and from a specific somewhere) priced always under $20, most often under $15, and sometimes even under $10 per bottle. These are fine wines for daily drinking. Ch. MARTINON Entre Deux Mers 2012 […]
